How to set up your BotPlaybooks personas
Step by step: download, unzip, then load a persona into Grok Bot, Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Hermes, OpenClaw or another agent.
Jump to: Download · Unzip · Open the file · Grok Bot · Grok · ChatGPT · Claude · Hermes · OpenClaw · Other agents
1. Download your file
- Click the download button (in your email or on your download page).
- On a computer, the file usually lands in your Downloads folder.
- On iPhone or iPad, Safari saves downloads to the Files app: open Files, tap Browse, then iCloud Drive, then Downloads.
- On Android, open your phone's files app (for example Files by Google) and find the file you downloaded.
2. Unzip your pack
Packs and All-Access come as one .zip file with a folder of persona files inside.
- Windows: right-click the .zip file, choose Extract All, then follow the instructions.
- Mac: double-click the .zip file. It unzips into a folder in the same place. (If Safari's "Open safe files after downloading" setting is on, Safari unzips it for you.)
- iPhone or iPad: in the Files app, tap the .zip file. A folder is created with the files inside. Tap the folder to open it.
- Android: in Files by Google, go to the folder with the .zip file, tap it, tap Extract, then tap Done.
3. Open the persona file
- Your persona is one .md file, so there is nothing to unzip.
- Each persona is a plain text (.md) file. Open it with any text editor or notes app.
- Find the heading Persona / System Prompt. Copy everything under it, down to the next heading (Tools & Connectors).
- Keep the file open. You will also need its Tools & Connectors list and its Example First Task.
4. Load the persona into your agent
Pick your agent below. Use one persona per agent or Bot.
Grok Bot
- Give each persona its own Bot: choose New in the sidebar, then Create new Bot.
- To match the persona's name, click the Bot's name at the top of the chat and edit it.
- In your first message, paste the Persona / System Prompt section (or attach the .md file) and end with: "Remember this for future work."
- Connect the tools the persona lists with Connect apps in the sidebar, or follow the Connect card in chat.
Grok
- Open the place where Grok lets you give it standing instructions (its customize or instructions settings).
- Paste the Persona / System Prompt section and save, then start a new chat.
- If you would rather not change your settings, paste the section as your first message in a new chat and ask Grok to follow it for the rest of the chat.
ChatGPT
- Project (works on every plan): open your project, select the more options menu (•••), then Project settings, and paste the Persona / System Prompt section into the project instructions. You can also add the .md file to the project's files.
- Custom GPT (Business, Enterprise or Edu workspaces only; OpenAI plans to retire custom GPTs): open Explore GPTs in the sidebar (or chatgpt.com/gpts), select Create, then use the configuration view.
- Paste the Persona / System Prompt section into Instructions. You can also upload the .md file under Knowledge. Test it in Preview, then select Create.
- Using OpenAI Dots? See our Dots guide.
Claude
- Go to claude.ai/projects, click New Project and give it the persona's name.
- Choose Set project instructions, paste the Persona / System Prompt section, and save.
- Optional: add the .md file to the project's knowledge with the + button.
Hermes
- Hermes Agent reads its identity from SOUL.md in your Hermes home folder (usually ~/.hermes/SOUL.md).
- Copy your current SOUL.md somewhere safe first, then paste the Persona / System Prompt section into it and save.
- Start a new session so Hermes loads the new identity.
OpenClaw
- OpenClaw reads its persona from SOUL.md in your agent workspace (default ~/.openclaw/workspace). You can also edit it in the Control UI under Settings, Agents, Files.
- Copy your current SOUL.md somewhere safe first, then paste the Persona / System Prompt section into it and save.
- Start a new session so the agent loads it.
Other agents
- Open your agent's instructions or system prompt settings.
- Paste the Persona / System Prompt section and save. If your agent accepts file uploads, you can upload the .md file instead.
- Using Muse by Meta? See our Muse guide.
5. Connect tools and run your first task
- Connect only the tools listed under Tools & Connectors.
- Send the persona's Example First Task as your first message.
- Review everything before you act on it. Your agent drafts; you approve anything sent, posted or paid.
