Ready-Made AI Agents: Buy a Persona for One Job and Run It in the Agent You Already Use
Updated: November 2, 2026 · By Brian Arrington (AI consultant and business coach)
Short answer: A ready-made AI agent is an agent that already knows a job: its role, what you give it, what it hands back and what it must never do. A simple way to get one is to keep the agent you already use, such as Grok Bot, Hermes or OpenClaw, and paste in a ready-made persona file for that job.
I'm Brian Arrington, an AI consultant and business coach and Air Force veteran. Most of the owners I talk to don't want to build an agent. They want one that already knows how to do the work. This guide explains what "ready-made" really means, what you still set up yourself, and how to load one.
What "ready-made AI agent" actually means
Every working agent has two layers:
- The agent. The software that runs: Grok Bot, Hermes, OpenClaw, Muse, OpenAI Dots or another agent.
- The job. The instructions that tell it who it is, what to do, what to hand back and where to stop.
Most "best AI agent" lists are about the first layer. A persona is the second layer. Each BotPlaybooks persona is a copy-paste template: a system prompt, workflow, tool list and guardrails you paste into your own AI agent so it can do one job. It comes as one plain text (.md) file.
So "ready-made" means the job is already written. You still pick the agent, connect the tools and approve the output.
What is a ready-made AI agent? It is an AI agent loaded with a job that someone already wrote: a defined role, inputs, outputs, guardrails and a first task. You bring the agent; the persona brings the job.
Build vs buy: when a ready-made persona beats building from scratch
| Blank prompt | Builder platform | Ready-made persona | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you write | Everything | Workflows and prompts, inside the platform | Nothing to start; you can edit the file |
| What you set up | Your agent and tools | A new platform account, plus its tools | Your existing agent and the tools the persona lists |
| Who writes the guardrails | You | You, using the platform's settings | Already in the file; you can tighten them |
A ready-made persona can help when you already have an agent and know the job you want covered. Building from scratch could make more sense when your process is unusual or you need custom integrations.
What you get in a ready-made persona
Each BotPlaybooks persona page shows the same parts:
- Tools and connectors it expects
- What you give it
- What you get back
- Guardrails
- Example first task
- Which agents it lists (Grok Bot, Hermes, OpenClaw, Muse, OpenAI Dots)
The file itself holds the system prompt and workflow you paste in.
Worked example: the agent called "Chief", the Chief of Staff persona. What you get back: "A daily brief, a decisions log, an action tracker and a weekly summary." Example first task: "Act as my chief of staff this week. Start with tomorrow's brief."
Ready-made AI agents by job
- The agent called "Chief" (Chief of Staff persona) keeps your week organized. You get back "a daily brief, a decisions log, an action tracker and a weekly summary."
- The agent called "Docket" (Inbox Triage Assistant persona) sorts email, team chat and DMs into act, reply, read and archive. Example first task: "Triage my inbox and my Slack DMs from the last 24 hours, then give me just the top 3 urgent items."
- The agent called "Charter" (Project Manager persona) plans projects. You get back "a charter, task plan, timeline, risk log and weekly status draft."
- The agent called "Foreman" (Agent Team Manager persona) is for people already running several agents. It gives you a weekly team health report and a list of overlaps and gaps.
- The agent called "Welcome" (Employee Onboarding Planner persona) "plans a new hire's first 30/60/90 days with tasks, people and training."
There are 160+ personas in the library. Browse by category, or use the free persona finder, which stays in your browser.
How to buy and load one in 5 steps
- Download the persona and unzip it.
- Open the .md file.
- Copy the section under "Persona / System Prompt".
- Paste it where your agent keeps its instructions (see the table).
- Connect only the tools the persona lists, send the Example First Task, and review everything it gives back.
| Agent | Where the persona goes |
|---|---|
| Grok Bot | Give it its own Bot, paste it into your first message and ask the Bot to remember it as its lasting rules |
| Hermes | ~/.hermes/SOUL.md |
| OpenClaw | SOUL.md in the agent workspace (default ~/.openclaw/workspace) |
| Muse | Soul.md for the role, Identity.md for the name |
| OpenAI Dots | Working instructions in the conversation, plus Custom rules for approvals |
The setup guide also covers Grok, ChatGPT, Claude and other agents. The full walkthrough is in the setup guide. Related guide: SOUL.md Templates for Business Agents.
What does a ready-made AI agent cost?
There are two parts:
- The persona file. See current persona and pack pricing.
- Your agent platform. Its plan and model usage are set by the platform, not by BotPlaybooks. Check each platform's own pricing page.
How much does a ready-made AI agent cost? It's the persona file plus whatever your agent platform charges for its plan and usage. BotPlaybooks lists persona and pack pricing on its site. Platform costs come from each vendor, so check their pricing pages before you decide.
Can you trust a ready-made AI agent? The approval line
Every BotPlaybooks persona carries the same guardrail: "Drafts only: it never sends, posts, pays or contacts anyone without your approval, and never invents facts."
Can an AI agent send email or spend money on its own? Only if you let it. These personas are written to ask first. Start read-only, review what it hands back, then add approved actions one at a time. If you want clear "ask first" and "allow" rules for your bots, the agent called "Tripwire" (Auto-review Rules Designer persona) can help you draft them.

FAQ
What is a ready-made AI agent?
A ready-made AI agent is an agent loaded with a job someone already wrote: its role, what you give it, what it hands back, its guardrails and a first task. With BotPlaybooks, you keep the agent you already use and paste in a persona file for one job. You still connect tools and approve the output.
Where can I buy ready-made AI agents?
BotPlaybooks sells ready-made personas, which are job files for the agent you already use, not a new platform. The library has 160+ personas, sorted by category. You can browse by category, use the free persona finder, or get a free persona when you share your email. Each one is one plain text (.md) file.
Are ready-made AI agents better than building my own?
It depends on the job. A ready-made persona can help when you already have an agent and want a common job covered, such as inbox triage or project planning. Building your own could make more sense for unusual processes or custom integrations. You can also start with a persona and edit it.
What do I still have to set up with a ready-made agent?
You pick the agent, paste the persona where it keeps its instructions, and connect only the tools the persona lists. Then send the example first task and review what comes back. The persona runs in your own agent, so your agent, accounts and approvals stay with you.
Which agents do BotPlaybooks personas work with?
BotPlaybooks personas are written for Grok Bot, Hermes, OpenClaw, Muse and OpenAI Dots, and the setup guide also covers Grok, ChatGPT, Claude and other agents. Each persona is one plain text (.md) file, so you place its parts wherever your agent expects them. The setup guide covers each one.
How much does a ready-made AI agent cost?
It has two parts: the persona file and your agent platform. BotPlaybooks lists current persona and pack pricing on its site. Your agent platform sets its own plan and usage costs, so check that vendor's pricing page. Getting started can cost nothing: you get 1 free persona for an email.
Can a ready-made AI agent send emails or spend money without asking me?
Not with these personas. Every BotPlaybooks persona is written as drafts only: it never sends, posts, pays or contacts anyone without your approval, and never invents facts. Start it read-only, review its work, and only then allow specific actions. You stay the approver.
What is an AI agent starter kit?
An AI agent starter kit is a set of ready-made personas for one area of work, so several agents share a common setup. BotPlaybooks offers department packs you can browse on the packs page. Each persona in a pack is one plain text (.md) file you load into the agent you already use.
